Tesco has written directly to prospective customers of its new Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market stores in the US, promising ‘great food you can trust at unbelievably low prices’. Financial Times
Tesco published a newsletter in English and Spanish in neighbourhoods to introduce the 10,000 sq ft stores. It has yet to announce locations of the stores, which it says will start opening in mid- to late 2007. But the Financial Times has identified more than 70 sites from planning documents in both inner city and suburban neighboroods in southern California, Nevada and Arizona. Populations in some areas are more than 80% Hispanic.
