Tesco has submitted a planning application for a regeneration scheme in Bromley-by-Bow in greater London.
The scheme will replace an existing Tesco store with a new district centre including a hotel, Idea Store library, 403 residential units and 18 shops and cafes anchored by a new Tesco superstore of 80,000 sq ft.
ColladoCollins designed the scheme, which also includes a primary school and riverside park.
Eoin Dardis, corporate affairs manager at Tesco: ‘We see this as a unique opportunity to do something innovative and exciting with our site in Bromley-by-Bow. If this scheme goes ahead Bromley-by-Bow will have, amongst other things, improved shopping, a new primary school and a public park.’
If the scheme is approved, Tesco wants to have the store completed in time for the 2012 Olympic Games.
