Thornfield Properties has been selected by Dacorum Borough Council as preferred developer for Waterhouse Square, a £350m retail-led regeneration scheme in Hemel Hempstead.

As reported in Property Week (news 16-06-06) Thornfield has beaten shortlisted parties St Modwen, Castlemore, Stanhope, Lend Lease and Crest Nicholson.

Thornfield has already signed a co-operation agreement with Dacorum Borough Council to commence planning work on the scheme.

Plans submitted by Thornfield for Waterhouse Square include 200,000 sq ft (18,580 sq m) of retail space, a supermarket and over 1,000 new homes.

Andrew Williams, Dacorum Borough Council Leader, said: ‘The formalisation of this partnership moves us further towards securing the type of future development we wish to see in Hemel Hempstead.’
