Carter Jonas partner Tim Shaw has been appointed to head up the Solum joint venture between Kier Group and Network Rail, which is developing around railway stations in London and the South East.
Shaw, who has been a partner and head of London development at Carter Jonas since 2013, will assume his new role as the managing director of Solum Regeneration next month.
This year, Solum has gained planning consent for a £150m scheme at Guildford station, which will comprise 438 apartments and a new station building, as well as a 586-home scheme in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire.
It is also developing schemes in Twickenham, Walthamstow and Kingswood in Surrey among others, and Shaw said it was exploring around 20 new opportunities.
Since its inception in 2008, Solum has been led by staff from within Kier and Network Rail. This is the first time a dedicated managing director has been appointed.
The joint venture has around 25 dedicated staff and is based in central London.
