TUI, Europe’s largest tour operator, has bought Tenuta de Castelfalfi, a hamlet in the heart of Chiantishire for €250 million (£170 million). The Times. The Guardian
The German company will redevelop the 11 sq km village into Toscana Resort Castelfalfi.
The village has a medieval castle, a three-star hotel, an 18-hole golf course, and cottages and farmhouses in various states of dilapidation.
TUI intends to build another hotel, an adventure resort and another golf course.
