The company,which was bought last year by Dubai International Capital, has 20,000 rooms in 300 hotels in the UK. It plans to have 32,000 rooms by 2010 and said it was opening one hotel every eight days.
Grant Hearn, the chief executive, said that international expansion had been postponed to focus on Britain.
Travelodge yesterday reported a 19% rise in underlying earnings in 2006 to £46.2m, from revenue up 17% to £203.5m. Occupancy rose from 74% to 78%.
