Donald Trump is going ahead with development of a £1bn golf resort near Aberdeen even though Trump Entertainment Resorts, the casino company he founded, filed for bankruptcy last week.

The Trump Organisation said yesterday the Scottish project would be 'unaffected' by the filing but it would be at least 2013 before any housing was completed on the coastal development.

The US developer was granted outline planning permission in November by the Scottish government to build two championship courses, a five-star hotel with 450 bedrooms, a golf academy, 950 holiday homes, 500 private family homes and 36 luxury golf villas.
