The Scottish government insists no decision has yet been made on Donald Trump’s plans for a £1bn golf resort near Aberdeen, in spite of the US property tycoon’s claims that he was 'going to get it'.

In an interview in the magazine Vanity Fair, Trump said: 'They like what I’ve done, and because I am who I am and my mother is Scottish, between you and me...I’m going to get it.'

However, the interview was given before the plans ran into objections from the local council and ministers ordered a public inquiry.
