Turnstone Estates and Revcap have been granted planning consent for a £50m mixed use scheme in Ipswich.
Ipswich Borough Council has given the go-ahead for the £50m retail-led development called Westgate Centre.
The 120,000 sq ft scheme, on the site of the former Ipswich Borough Council offices, will include food and non-food retail space as well as restaurants, cafes, flats, an amphitheatre and 500 parking spaces.
Nick Scott, director of Turnstone Estates, said: ‘This is an exciting development that will form a new destination, and anchor, to the poorly served western quarter of the Town Centre, and broaden the range of shopping and leisure amenities on offer.’
Demolition of the existing buildings is well underway and construction of the scheme could begin as early as the summer with completion during summer 2011.
CB Richard Ellis and Savills are letting agents appointed to the scheme.
