Economic growth in the UK stalled in the second quarter of this year, figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have shown.

The figures, which showed 0.0% growth in UK GDP between April and June, will further fuel fears of a UK recession.

However GDP is still 1.4% higher than the same period in 2007.

The ONS also yesterday published figures showing that retail sales in July increased by 0.8% compared to the previous month, contrary to expectations which expected a dip.
