Huntingdonshire District Council has approved regeneration specialist Urban & Civic’s plans for a ‘sustainable urban extension’ of St Neots, to add 2,800 homes to the Cambridge suburb.
U&C, which is developing the scheme jointly with Nuffield College (Oxford), has received approval for 2,800 new homes, two new primary schools, health facilities and 678,000 sq ft of new employment space with first occupations planned to start in November 2019.
The town, situated 15 miles west of Cambridge, is expected to also see further growth from more landscaping and various infrastructure works by the council and the level of affordable housing on the site will be ramped up as scheme viability allows.
