Waitrose has signed up to open its second convenience store in the UK with its first store in Bristol.

The retailer has agreed a long-lease with landlord CBRE Investors at the former Fresh & Wild unit in the Clifton Pavilion on Queens Road.

Waitrose plans to open the 7,000 sq ft unit by early spring 2009 as part of its wider plans to expand in the south west, including opening its fourth store in Crewkerne, Somerset, and plans for a new 21,000 sq ft store in Weston-Super-Mare.

The Bristol store will be the second ‘convenience store’ concept. The first Waitrose convenience store will open in Nottingham next week.
