London Olympic organisers will tomorrow launch a website enabling thousands of businesses to compete for some of the £6bn of work being tendered for the 2012 games. Financial Times.

The business network is intended as a 'dating agency' matching small and medium-sized companies to the 7,000 contracts being let by London 2012. The Olympic Delivery Authority and the London organising committee will advertise direct contract tenders through their CompeteFor website, while London 2012 contractors are expected to advertise their supply chain opportunities on the system.

Organisers say more than 500 contractors have so far won contracts worth more than £1bn. Nearly all are based in the UK, two-thirds are SMEs and about half from outside London. 'The vast majority of business opportunities remain to be let and this year represents a huge opportunity for UK businesses,' the ODA said.
