The Welsh Assembly has stepped in to ‘safeguard the jobs’ of a Welsh residential developer with a grant to allow the company to move into the commercial development.
Davies Richards, of Llandeilo, will develop an 18,000 sq ft office scheme in two phases at Llanelli Gate which will include a new headquarters for the company.
Leighton Andrews, deputy minister for regeneration at the Welsh Assembly, said Llanelli Gate was an important site.
He said: ‘I am also glad that the Assembly government has been able to help and support a local company which in turn will safeguard local jobs.’
Carwyn Davies, of Robert Davies, said: ‘The housing market is weak at the moment which is why we are expanding into the office market but we are a development company and have carried out a number of high quality commercial and retail developments.’
