The Welsh Assembly has pledged £15m to redevelop the Menai Straits area of north Wales.

It has also laid out plans to look for development partners in the private sector, as well as working with local authorities, educational institutions and the Nuclear Decommissioning Agency.

The government’s plan for Mon a Menai aim to make economic hubs in Anglesey and Gywnedd.

It wants to redevelop parts of Holyhead, Caernarfon and Bangor.

Leighton Andrews, deputy minister for regeneration, said: ‘Important challenges to the north west Wales economy lie ahead. The Mon a Menai action plan sets out our commitment to developing the economic prosperity of north west Wales. Our goal is for the Menai Hub to act as an economic driver.’
