Five contractors have been shortlisted to build the sailing facilities for the London 2012 Olympics at Weymouth and Portland. Financial Times
Birse, Carillion, Dean & Dyball, Edmund Nuttall and Raymond Brown will compete for the contract. expected to be worth about £6m.
Construction of a 50 metre slipway, a raceboat parking area, new race-boat lifting facilities and new race-boat moorings with a sheltering wave protection structure is to start early next year and for completion in 2008.
Dean & Reddyhoff is to begin work this month on a 560-berth commercial marina at Osprey Quay, where just under half of the berths are to be used for the games. The marina will feature retail and industrial development.
