A historic stately home in England’s smallest county has come on to the market in what auction house SDL Auctions Graham Penny has called a “major development and investment opportunity”.

Ranksborough Hall, in the village of Langham, near the market town of Oakham in Leicestershire, is being offered long leasehold with a guide price of £1.8m-plus.

It was built in 1839 for Lord Ranksborough, who at the time was equerry to Queen Victoria.
