Sales at McHugh & Co’s latest auction on 4 October fell £3.1m short of the equivalent auction in 2017.

  • The auction house sold 39 lots from a 55-strong catalogue, raising £11.9m and achieving a 71% success rate.
  • In October last year, McHugh & Co sold 46 or 87% of the 53 lots on offer, raising £15m.
  • At its latest sale, residential lots in central London were particularly popular among buyers and achieved some of the best prices.
  • The auction house sold a two-bedroom flat in Camden, north London, prior to the auction for £730,000. Its guide price was £700,000.
  • A terraced house in Tottenham that was guided at £300,000 eventually sold for £510,000.
  • A flat in Kentish Town sold for £420,000, almost £100,000 more than its guide price.

McHugh & Co Lot October

The largest lot sold in the room was a three-floor house in Camden. The property, which was offered vacant and included a large garden, was guided at £1.5m and sold for £1.6m.

  • A former pub in Tufnell Park did not sell, however. The property, which has planning permission for three flats and a new public house, is still available with the auctioneer and has a £1.3m reserve price.
