Triangle danger sign with the words

Living near a nudist beach will strip an average of £16,000 off your house price, according to surprising research from Barrows and Forrester.

The firm’s data reveals that UK homes close to naturist beaches cost on average £308,476, compared with the wider UK average of £324,450, meaning living close to one will shave off around 5% from the price of a house.

In the YO11 Yorkshire postcode, home of Cayton Bay’s nudist beach, the difference in price is laid even more bare. The average house price is £131,500 cheaper than the wider North Yorkshire average, a nudist beach house price reduction of 46%.

The estate and lettings agent behind the research has identified this price difference as a neat little opportunity for homebuyers looking to live in a coastal location, but keen to avoid the typical price premiums of the seaside.

As Barrows and Forrester managing director James Forrester adds, this is all well and good “just so long as you don’t mind seeing more than you bargained for while walking the dog each morning”.
