Property companies are being urged to donate unwanted computers and laptops to LandAid as part of an initiative the charity has launched with Computers 4 Charity.

The property industry charity gives the devices to Computers 4 Charity, which data-wipes and fully refurbishes them, before handing them out to LandAid’s charity partners.

Landsec recently donated three full roll-cages of surplus IT devices. Some of these were given to YMCA Thames Gateway for use in its community café – a project launching this month to support the local community and young residents facing challenging times by providing an inclusive, safe place for them to meet and apply for jobs, housing and education opportunities.

LandAid chief executive Paul Morrish said: “LandAid is delighted to have been able to link Landsec up with YMCA Thames Gateway.

“We look forward to seeing the positive impact these computers will have on the lives of their young people and other beneficiaries.”
