Eye fell off a chair this week when news of an estate agent waiving their fee reached the office. Knight Frank partner Ross Davies has offered to waive his sales fee of up to £20,000 as a prize in a silent auction that is raising funds for a team of women climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

The fee being waived is equivalent to an agent’s fee for a £1.2m property – or a pretty standard house price in Royal Tunbridge Wells where Davies is based.

The climbing team led by MP Tracey Crouch are raising money for a breast cancer screening machine, which costs £100,000, in aid of Breast Cancer Kent.

Bidders can win the fee waiver and other prizes including Wimbledon, Twickenham, Formula E and The Open tickets, a sleepover at the Big Cat Sanctuary and a celebrity concierge service for a year via ww2.emma-live.com/ MountKilimanjaroClimb.

Going a step further to aid the team, self-professed ‘Kent Property King’ Davies hosted a high-stakes Monopoly games evening, which he himself won, raising more than £4,500 in the process. His tip? Invest in property and don’t flash the cash too early.
