Mayor of London Sadiq Khan called for the redevelopment of Euston station into the terminus for High Speed 2 (HS2) to be put on hold.
He said the scheme should be halted until a less destructive plan was found, and proposed Old Oak Common as a more suitable location.
Khan argued that work to Euston would cause “huge inconvenience” to thousands of residents, with hundreds of homes and businesses destroyed”.
Proposals for HS2 were originally announced in January 2012, while the plans for a “bolt-on” redevelopment of Euston station were announced in September 2015.
Savills raised over £36m in its 10th auction of the year this week, bringing the total amount raised this month to more than double September 2022’s figure.
