How do you provide affordable housing for cash-strapped millennials? The latest solution, from Rajdeep Gahir, formerly of WeWork and eBay, and Dara Huang, the founder of architecture practice Design Haus Liberty, is to provide prefabricated, pop-up housing ‘pods’ in vacant commercial spaces such as offices and shopping centres.
The pair launched their Vivahouse concept earlier this month, setting up a handful of prototype units at the Whiteleys shopping centre in Bayswater, London.
So how does it work and how much of a market is there for this unusual way of living?
