Protest group puts paid to Goldman Sachs and Wellcome Trust bid for Network Rail portfolios

The joint venture partners were one of five parties to make it through to the second round of bidding for the portfolio of 5,476 arches but officially ended their interest this week.

It is thought the pair has been put off by the negative attention generated by the campaign group Guardians of the Arches, which claims tenants of the arches will be driven out by a hike in rents, and the potential for political fallout.
