Overview:

The property market is showing signs of recovery, albeit fragile. They key for future prosperity will be to secure enough development and the right type of product to fuel the market. Planning has a key role to play in meeting this development imperative.

The Planning system is clearly a regulatory tool but it can also create the conditions for development if implemented in the right way.

After years of unprecedented growth where developers accepted conditions, costs and requirements upon development, the market has now changed and these conditions have become onerous and the costs an undue burden.

On the eve of the General Election, what does our panel of consultants think should be the approach of a new government and how can Planning demonstrate leadership within the property Industry.

Who will be affected?

  • Private Sector - real estate activities - anybody wishing to expand and develop new premises, subject to low threshold exemption; construction and industry services; land owners; individuals seeking planning permission for new developments - subject to low threshold exemption; housing associations and legal representatives or purchasers of new developments.
