Objections to a £100m mixed use scheme in Lichfield, Staffordshire have been dropped at the compulsory purchase order (CPO) inquiry into the scheme.

The compulsory purchase order (CPO) inquiry into Yorkshire-based developer S Harrison Developments’ plans for £100m mixed use scheme concluded this week and all substantive objections to the scheme having been withdrawn following negotiations.

If the secretary of state confirms the order next year work on site at the Friarsgate development on Birmingham Road in the city will start by Easter 2008.

A preferred contractor for the scheme will be appointed in the New Year.

Move up the retail rankings

The retail and mixed use scheme will lift the city 114 places up the national rankings, from 235th to 121st. according to Oxford Retail Consultants, a retail research company.
