West Ham kicks off Upton Park developer search
West Ham United Football Club has kicked off the search for a developer for the historic Upton Park Stadium in Newham, London.
The club is seeking expressions of interest from potential developers for “informal discussions” about what would happen to the ground if it wins its bid to take over the Olympic Stadium after the 2012 Games.
According to the club, the site could be vacated and open to redevelopment by the summer of 2014.
West Ham this year bid alongside the London borough of Newham to occupy the Olympic stadium after the Games.
It is up against a joint bid from Tottenham Hotspur and AEG. A final decision by the Olympic Park Legacy Company is expected at the end of March.
