The Association of Muslim Surveyors Initiative for Muslims and Non-Muslins is a personal and professional development platform founded by Sarah Chaudhry, who has worked in corporate real estate for 30 years.

The group’s mission statement is: “We aim to pave the way into professional real estate, built environment, and construction professional institutions and to raise awareness of the professions in communities, as we all count.”

The AMSI initiative is supported by contributing members who provide support in terms of advocacy and representation within the communities in which they are known.

The group says people from Bangladeshi, Pakistani, and Muslim Communities were some of the worst hit during the Covid-19 pandemic. They are relatively poor and occupy insecure jobs, the Office of National Statistics (UK) data shows they suffer great economic disadvantage, 41% of the economically inactive are Muslim women.

It highlights that its community says advocacy and representation are key and visibility, the drinking culture in the industry precludes them.

AMSI has regular members who are committed to AMSI and its success and meet monthly. There are also market engagement drop-in sessions, for senior guidance and support on initiatives, 10am weekly.
