The construction industry, however, has lagged behind in this global tech revolution. A recent report by the McKinsey Global Institute found that the sector is among the least digitised industries across the globe and has been painfully slow at adopting technology and process innovations.

But given that pockets of innovation are starting to pop up on construction sites across the world, could that all be about to change?
