British Land has secured planning consent for a 140,000 sq ft, multi-level last-mile logistics scheme in Southwark, south London.
The scheme,on a site close to the junction of New Kent Road, Old Kent Road and Tower Bridge Road, is the latest in British Land’s 2.9m sq ft pipeline.
The former Southwark Council car pound will be redeveloped to feature four floors of logistics space serving Southwark and central London, which will be available to a range of prospective occupiers.
The ground-floor logistics space will provide access for a variety of distribution vehicles including HGVs and cargo bikes.
British Land’s pipeline of Greater London logistics projects has a gross development value of £1.3bn.
British Land head of logistics Mike Best said: “We continue to explore new opportunities to leverage our long-standing investment and development expertise to source and execute acquisitions which unlock opportunities to densify London’s logistics supply.”
