FTSE 100 closes up as Urban Exposure starts strongly after listing

Finance

The FTSE 100 closed 97 points higher on Wednesday after strong gains in the day to rise 1.28% to 7,662 led by a significant jump in oil prices.

Alongside that, the FTSE 250 added over 87 points to reach 20,681.

The US withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal sent the oil market to new multi-year highs and the FTSE 100 benefitted from having a disproportionally large exposure to the energy sector, led by BP which rose 3.92%.
