Regulator clears Unite’s £1.4bn Liberty Living deal

Unite Students accommodation at Grand Central in Liverpool

Student accommodation group Unite has been given the go-ahead to complete its £1.4bn acquisition of Liberty Living by the competition regulator.

The Competition and Markets Authority has unconditionally approved the deal, and the acquisition is expected to complete at the end of this month. Liberty Living is currently ultimately owned Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB).
