Has your team had a standout year in commercial real estate despite, or perhaps because of, the Covid pandemic? Did your business pull off a ground-breaking deal or project in 2020? Have you – or has someone you know – taken disruption and innovation to the next level? Then we want to hear from you.

The Property Awards – the most important and prestigious awards in the UK commercial property calendar – are now open for entries.

There has never been more reason to celebrate excellence in commercial real estate. For many businesses, just to survive the past year is an achievement, and those that did more than that and thrived – whether through entrepreneurialism, breathtaking ingenuity or sheer perseverance – deserve to be lauded.

To mark the emergence from a year of lockdowns, this year’s Awards will be held both online and in person at the InterContinental London, The O2, during the day rather than the evening for the first time, at lunchtime on Friday 12 November.

After the extraordinary year we have had, we are hoping for another record-breaking number of submissions.

As ever, we are looking for the best in their fields, not necessarily the biggest. To that end, we have expanded our roster of judges to incorporate even more C-suite industry figures from across the commercial property world and beyond, including representatives from the Diversity & Inclusion Editorial Advisory Board and our Climate Crisis Challenge campaign.

Those on the judging panels will rigorously assess all those on the shortlist and select winners that truly deserve to be recognised above all others, ensuring the awards maintain their reputation for being the most robust and credible in commercial property.

To celebrate the 26th Property Awards and reflect on such an extraordinary year of challenge and opportunity, we are introducing three new awards: Best Covid Response, Climate Crisis Initiative and Health and Wellbeing Initiative.

Alongside the Social Impact Initiative award, these underline the way the pandemic has accelerated the ESG agenda and demonstrate that success this year is not just about financial performance. It is also about the way the industry has dealt with the Covid crisis, risen to the climate emergency challenge, introduced community-focused initiatives and looked after its people.

Of course, if you did post a stellar financial performance – perhaps if you were lucky enough to be in a sector helped rather than hindered by the pandemic – we want to hear your stories, too. This is the commercial property industry, after all. We will be celebrating commercial success – even more so than we do normally.

There will also be the usual array of exciting awards including the Hall of Fame, into which we will induct not one, not two, but three industry legends this year. Because we recognise the acute challenges the industry has faced over the past year, we have also extended the period of eligibility by two months from 1 December 2019 to 31 January 2021.

So don’t hide your light under a bushel, write off last year or miss the opportunity to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of your colleagues and peers. Share your stories with us. We want to reward excellence across the whole commercial property industry – the parts that were hit hard by Covid as well as those that were not.

The deadline for entries is Monday 5 July and we will reveal the full shortlist by 31 July ahead of judging in September.

The next important date in the diary is the Awards themselves. Whether you watch online or dust off the glad rags to attend in person, join us at lunchtime on 12 November to celebrate the crème de la crème of the commercial property world.
