Farmers urged to be vigilant following rise in waste crime

Environment Agency calls on landowners to take preventative action to stop illegal dumping of ‘baled waste’.

The Environment Agency (EA) last month urged them to do more to protect their land against baled waste crime – where household, commercial, plastic or industrial waste is compressed and wrapped in plastic strapping to look like silage bales – after an increase in the illegal, large-scale dumping of waste on privately owned sites across Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire since 2017.
