A failed shopping centre is being knocked down to make way for a new scheme that will celebrate the city’s history.
Built on the site of the former Bargate Shopping Centre, the 400,000 sq ft development will have retail and food and beverage outlets at street level, with residential above.
The 24 retail units and five retail ‘pavilions’ will be designed to appeal to “a discerning crowd searching for something special”.
But will it prove too high end for Southampton?
