Wolverhampton wanders towards regeneration plans

Wolverhampton Westside

Progress has been slow at Westside scheme.

In April 2017, Urban & Civic signed a development agreement with the council and drew up plans to deliver a scheme on the 6.4-acre city centre site incorporating a multi-screen cinema, leisure operators, six restaurants and a 600-space car park. But following outline planning consent last January, progress has been slow.

In February this year, City of Wolverhampton Council used the project’s covenant to secure a funding model that would allow Urban & Civic to proceed with leasing. Since then, the developer has spent months negotiating a deal with a major cinema operator, but it is yet to get a deal over the line.
