Singer builds stake in new twist to Hammerson saga

Investor famous for targeting underperforming companies grows holdings following collapse of intu deal.

At Hammerson’s annual general meeting on Tuesday, investors were not talking of portfolio management, acquisitions and sales. Instead, one name was uppermost in their minds: Paul Singer.

Singer is the billionaire founder of Elliott Management, the New York-based hedge fund that targets underperforming companies like bulls do china shops.
