Birmingham City Council has selected a joint venture between Abstract Land and Dandara for the Great Charles Street site in Birmingham

The council announced today that the pair will replace HBG Properties, which was appointed as preferred developer for the 2-acre (0.8ha) Great Charles Street site in June.

As tipped by Property Week last week, Abstract and Dandara beat competition from two other bidders for the site. It will develop about 300,000 sq ft (27,870 sq m) of office space on the site.

Regeneration chief councillor Ken Hardman, said: ‘We were obviously disappointed that HBG did not deliver what they offered. But we knew it wouldn’t be a major problem because we had other interested parties waiting in the wings.’

Lambert Smith Hampton acted for Birmingham City Council and Knight Frank advised Abstract Land and Dandara.
