Amazon takes punt on pre-fab homes

Amazon has backed a $6.7m fundraising round for California-based modular housebuilder Plant Prefab as part of its efforts to secure dominance over the smart home market.

The online retailer made the investment through its Alexa Fund, which launched in 2015 and invests in companies pioneering new voice technology.
