Manhattan Loft Corporation has appointed Martyn Bowes as managing director.

Bowes joins Manhattan Loft Corporation to support the executive CEO, Harry Handelsman, in the development of it’s business strategy in the UK including its £100m refurbishment of the Grade 1 listed St Pancras Chambers.

Bowes will also work with Handelsman overseeing overseas development opportunities and various joint venture partnerships and initiatives.

Bowes was previously the managing director for Barclays Capital, European real estate finance, and head of property finance for Barclays, UK Business Banking.

Handelsman said: ‘Martyn will work with us to drive Manhattan Loft Corporation’s strategy in the UK forward and broaden our commitment abroad in Germany, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. We will be recruiting architects, designers and project managers to assist us with our developments.’

Angus Boag, former managing director who is leaving to join Workspace Group, will remain a consultant to the company. Brian Day, project director, is responsible for construction development.

Manhattan Loft Corporation currently has a £400m portfolio of regenerative projects in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

It’s current UK projects include the £100m refurbishment of the Grade I listed St Pancras Chambers into a 5-star Renaisance Marriott hotel and 67 new apartments completing in 2009, a £90m public/private partnership for a new medical centre and residential development in Fitzrovia, a £50m regeneration of Ealing Studios and a 1000 acre commercial site in Wales.
