London mayor Boris Johnson has given the go-ahead for the £500m redevelopment of Ealing town centre including that of the Arcadia Centre.

Last month architecture and design practice HKR Architects, on behalf of Glenkerrin, was given the ‘green light’ by planners at Ealing Council.

HKR has designed a six multi-storey buildings while Foster + Partners has designed a one 24 storey building.

Following a successful stage II referral, Mayor Johnson said: ‘Urban design and architecture of this quality will make a real difference to the residents of, businesses in, and visitors to Ealing.’

Ealing town will also be one of only 10 in London to benefit from the £16bn Crossrail project.

GVA Grimley acted as planning consultants to the developer Glenkerrin.
