Carpet retailer Carpetright has bought Storeys Carpets, the 54-store north-east of England based family-owned business. Daily Telegraph


Storeys is well known in the north-east, where it has stores in 30 locations. It also operates as Walter Wall Carpets, Woodland Floors and UKCarpetsDirect. com.

The takeover takes Carpetright’s stores in the UK and Ireland to more than 560.

Storeys is headed by Simon Heptinstall, the grandson of the founder Paul Heptinstall, who launched the firm in Sunderland under his wife’s family name in 1921 The Heptinstall family is the sole owner of the group and will get an initial £18.5m, with a potential further £1m.
