Project Blue, the joint venture between Christian Candy’s CPC and Qatari Diar, have unveiled images of a public sports complex to form part of its Chelsea Barracks plans.

The sports centre, valued at more than £40m, includes a 25-metre swimming pool, a four-court sports hall, climbing wall dance studios and gym.

The complex is a part of the 2.5m sq ft plans which go before Westminster Council’s planning and development committee for the first time tonight.

Plans include 638 apartments, of which 50% will be affordable, a community hall, supermarket and boutique hotel.

Opposition to the scheme has come from the Duke of Westminster’s property company Grosvenor, the Earl of Stockton, and the Belgravia Residents’ Association.

The planning committee tonight is likely to raise concerns over the height of some of the buildings and the need for more open spaces.
