CLS Holdings chief executive Per Sjöberg has resigned, in part because of the government’s changes to non-dom tax rules.

CLS said that Sjörberg was returning to Sweden ‘in part, due to recent changes in UK taxation affecting UK residents with "non-domiciled" status’.

Sjöberg had been CLS chief executive for more than two years and was previously development director for seven years.

New structure

He will be replaced by Henry Klotz, who was previously head of the company’s property business in Germany and Sweden. CLS said that due to the board restructuring Anders Böös had resigned as non-executive director. Sten Mortstedt will continue as executive chairman.

The company is planning a new corporate structure and is considering a change of domicile.

'We have had to look carefully at our requirements for the board of CLS particularly in light of current market conditions and our proposed new holding company structure,’ Mortstedt said.

‘Whilst we are disappointed to lose Per, who has performed an excellent job as chief executive officer over the past two and a half years and prior to that as development director to the group for seven years we are delighted to be able to appoint Henry Klotz as chief executive officer.’
