H&M’s sister brand COS (Collection of Style) has signed at Shaftesbury and The Mercers Company’s Covent Garden development.

The 7,000 sq ft store will be COS’s second store following its debut on Regent Street earlier this year.

It has signed this week for a 15 year lease paying £750,000 a year.

The store, on Long Acre, is part of St Martin’s Courtyard - Shaftesbury and The Mercer’s 2 acre development.

The scheme will open in 2010 and will include 28 shops totalling 70,000sq ft, five restaurants totalling 30,000 sq ft, 73,000sq ft of office space and 33 apartments as well as a central courtyard.

The development is bordered by Long Acre, Upper St Martins Lane and Mercer Street.

COS is the first retailer to sign at the scheme. US fashion retailer Forever 21 is in talks to take a store at the scheme to make its UK debut.

Speaking about COS Simon Quayle, director at Shaftesbury, said: ‘We feel that the brand is perfect for the customer we are targeting – shoppers who want good fashion product, at premium quality, with great price points. We are sourcing retailers from all over the world to create a point of difference for this location.’
