Delta Two is understood to have been given the green light from Qatar to increase the cash component of its £10.6bn bid for Sainsbury’s as it seeks to gain access to the supermarket group’s books later this week. The Sunday Telegraph. The Times

It is understood that Delta Two, which is funded by the Qatari royal family, planned to give in to the board’s demands by offering up to £500m in additional cash.

Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s is expected to ask the Takeover Panel to lift the siege against the supermarket chain if Delta Two does not make a best and final offer this week.
