DSG international, Europe’s leading electrical retailer, today launched a customer support service chain called The TechGuys with plans for a 200-store roll out

The TechGuys aims to provide homes and small businesses with support on installing, connecting, protecting, upgrading and fixing home IT and audio visual technology.

The service is supported by call centres and will have a spare parts vault of 2 million components.

As well as 200 standalone locations, DSG, the former Dixons Group, plans 150 centres at PC World stores and a subsequent European launch.

John Clare, group chief executive of DSG, said: ‘As the UK gears up for one of the most important technological transitions in 100 years, for which the majority of consumers are not prepared, we’re creating a national support operation to help customers navigate their way around the digital universe.’

DSG estimates that the market for digital support services is worth £1bn in the UK and plans to invest £50m in its concept.
