Asking prices for houses have risen at their fastest pace in five years, a survey by property website Rightmove has shown today. The Times.

Over the last month, the average house gained £8,300 in value, equivalent to a 3.6% rise and the strongest since April 2002.

The increase means that annual house-price inflation for the year to April was 15% – the fastest rise for nearly four years, based on asking prices.
