Iceland Foods has bought 51 Woolworths stores, it confirmed today.

The stores were bought as part of the sale of Woolworths leasehold stores following it falling into administration in December.

Andy Pritchard, managing director of Iceland Foods, said: ‘The acquisition of these prime retail sites, will further increase our presence throughout the UK and Northern Ireland. We look forward to realising the full potential of the sites over the coming months and to creating around 2,000 jobs.’

Hill Dickinson LLP advised Iceland on the acquisitions in England and Wales, whilst Elliott Duffy Garrett advised in Belfast and Anderson Strathern advised in Glasgow.

CB Richard Ellis advised Deloitte, the administrator of Woolworths, on its property disposals.
