Lancashire County Cricket Club has teamed up with Trafford Borough Council, Ask Developments and Tesco to redevelop its cricket ground and the surrounding area.

The £190m scheme will have the club’s 25,000 seat cricket ground at its heart. The 750,000 sq ft (69,676 sq m) scheme will also include offices, retail, industrial and leisure space. The partners are yet to decide the exact layout of the scheme.

LCCC Chief Executive Jim Cumbes said: ‘Together with our local partners, the North West Development Agency and Sport England, we will work towards delivering a scheme which will have at its heart a new stadium fit for the next 150 years, and which will be recognised as world-class standard, fit for the UK's greatest sporting city region and serving the huge cricketing hotbed in the north west.’

The partners will review various development options over the next six to twelve months and will decide a preferred development scheme early in 2008.
